HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL OF OUR MEMBERS

We had a lovely Christmas party/lunch on Thursday 13th.
Thank you to everyone who helped decorate. purchased goodies  and helped in any way.... Santa says he will remember how special you are....
There  is always a lot of work behind the scenes for these things.
Tables to be set up and decorated, ice and drinks  and Christmas decorations and nibbles to be purchased etc  .
It all came together and the tables etc looked lovely.
Just shows that many hands do  make light work....
Thanks everyone, you all know who you are and so does Santa.!!!!.......

GOOD CITIZEN AWARDS 2012

The Probus Club of Gosford West held its annual
Good Citizen Awards on Nov 8th.
It was again a very successful and happy morning.
Students from three schools their teachers and their families made  45 visitors.
We had  lovely presentation followed by a nice Morning tea
provided by Ros and the ladies who make such lovely sandwiches, cakes and slices.
Our guest of honour was Gary Blackler from Probus
South Pacific who was very impressed by our awards.
These students who are nominated by their various schools never fail to amaze us with the incredible  good citizenship they show.
Sometimes can't help but wonder when they have time for school work.!

Photo's below show the awards given and recieved.

We were also given a sneak preview of an up and coming
African Drumming group  from Point Clare Primary who came along and played a couple of numbers for us.
They were loud and proud .....( no need for hearing aids) but very enjoyable to watch as they drummed their little hearts and hands out  ....

Well done again ,to the committee and  to Lionel Gordon and Dave Tapner. who always  do such a great job on the shields and the certificates .

Well done, also to  the presenters the students and those who work behind the scenes to make this Awards morning such a success.....
There is a lot of behind the scenes work that has to happen each year to make this awards morning happen and I feel sure that those Probians who started these awards 29 years ago will be "smiling" and saying a big "Thank You."

Our Club Visited Roses2Go ...WOW

On Sept. 27th our club visited Roses2Go the rose farm at Woongarah.
We had previously had Nicky Mann from Roses 2 Go as a guest speaker and her story touched us all and made us want to visit the family rose growing farm.
They had fled Zimbabwe and left behind  their very sucessful rose growing business, setting up again on the Central Coast when they fell in love with this area.
A very hard working family who are now proud to be called "Aussies"who have become rose breeders all over again....We really wish them every success....

About 40 of us arrived at the farm in glorious Spring  sunshine, Mick had ordered good weather  for this special outing ....and he got it..!
Morning tea and a little talk on the background of the farm were all part of the small fee charged . Lovely morning tea and then a tour of the sheds where the roses are grown hydroponically...

WOW is the only word when you see the hundreds of beautiful roses they grow on this farm.
They use only natural pest control and their roses are just beautiful.
Nicky was our tour guide and a great job she did in educating us on how they  grow such beautiful roses at their farm.
Roses2Go have several florist shop outlets , Woongarah,  East Gosford and Berkely Vale and  also can take  orders over the internet  www.roses2go.com.au if you need to order any.
Their roses are long lasting and just perfect for any ocassion as you will see if you visit their website.
Some photos below of the lovely morning spent at Roses3Go.
We then went on to Wallarah Bay club where we bought what we wanted for lunch....

For those of you who couldn't be there I took a lot of photo's so you wouldn't miss out altogether....

Lovely outing once again organised by our wonderful outings officer Mick, thanks Mick for a lovely Springtime outing....
 ENJOY THE  PHOTO'S...
