DECEMBER 2020 OUR CHRISTMAS MEETING

Today was our Christmas meeting and a lovely Morning tea was organised by the committee .
Today instead of being OUT for Christmas lunch somewhere ....We had  a Christmas theme meeting  (MORNING TEA)and members were asked to come  dressed in Christmas mode.

MANY Members  Think it was more fun than going out somewhere  anyway.

A prize was given to the person or persons who the committee judged to be the best dressed  in Christmas Theme .

                          PHOTOS are BELOW

Everyone participated and came in their best Christmas gear.

We had some good laughs at some outfits  and really enjoyed the  Morning .  Some really excelled at this .

We even had SANTA and his wife in attendance .

All of a sudden a lady in Christmas mode appeared in a wheelchair . It was our local member Leisle Tesch . She thought she was our guest speaker today but was relieved to find that a mistake had been made and she wasn't due to be our GUEST speaker until April  .

She stopped and had a cuppa with us and wished everyone a happy Christmas just the same.

THANK YOU LEISLE . See you in April ,

Our morning tea was a special  Christmas themed  M/Tea and just lovely....

Thank you  especially To the catering team ....

Thank you everyone for your team work on this .

Covid  might have changed things ,

but it didn't stop the team  from working ....

We arrived for our  Nov. meeting fully masked up but when the Air Conditioner was not working we were advised that we did not need masks .
We still had all other Covid rules in place but Masks were not needed .  We had no guest speaker today , because we normally have our Good Citizenship awards  and NO guest speaker,   however two of our members stepped up  to fill the spot and
Ros T told us the  story of her working life.
Alan G  Told us about his Life story .
A HUGE THANK YOU to both of these members for filling in for a guest speaker....
John S gave us our Normal Trivia questions .

We also had  our beautiful Covid safe morning tea  via the meeting room especially served to us  by members using tongs .
A lovely meeting was STILL  enjoyed by all.
By the way, we still presented the Good Citizenship awards to the various students and delivered them to each school to be given out at their awards ceremony .
We are assured that photo's etc will be forth coming from these awards  at a later date ....
This is the first time in 38 years that our "SPECIAL " Good Citizenship  awards were not given out ,
But thats COVID for you ,  it has changed everything ...

Our next meeting is Nov.  12th  and  it would

normally be our GOOD CITIZEN AWARDS morning .

However due to Covid restrictions  this will NOT  take place as usual (for the 1st time in 38 years) we are very dissapointed as this is always a very special morning  ,   we will however  be trying to get the awards to the student through their respective schools instead.

So a normal meeting is planned  for November instead...

Please watch this space for news on this..

SEPTEMBER 10th Meeting . ANOTHER MASKED EVENT

Another Covid safe meeting took place today.

We had our Temp taken,  signed in , wore masks, Social distanced, morning tea was served differently  etc but we were able to have our September meeting regardless so that is the main thing .

It was lovely to see so many  familiar Probus family faces again.

We are all   being very careful and playing it safe but we made it to another meeting.  WELL DONE everyone .

Chairs were placed 1.5 MTR  apart except for some couple chairs that were side by side .

It was Carols 1st full meeting and there was a lot to do, a Certificate of Appreciation for his services went to Lional G.   and  an OBE went to Peter M.  and then a Life membership honour was given to John E.  There were 3 inductions to be made but the 3 new members were not able to be there due to family issues etc.

So next meeting we will see them again we hope.

We have induction certificates and badges for them so we hope to  catch up with them soon .

We had a previous visitor Noel P.  visit us again today and this time Noel  put his membership application in so hopefully at our next meeting in Oct.  we will be welcoming  4 new members  into our Ranks .

John E. was our guest speaker today and spoke about his  early life and  the IMPORTANCE of writing your story  down  for your future generations to read.  Hope you've all made a start on your stories.

Very  often we hear someones story at their funeral and so much should have been  put on paper by the person for the family to keep . Next month we hear from Alan G , another interesting life story ...

Our first Covid meeting 13th August 2020 ......A Masked event....

Our 1st meeting back since March when the Community Centre went into lockdown. was a very covered up affair.

We met under strict Covid rules.......      (ie) distancing, masks, sanitizer, etc.... and we  finally had our change over and as it was our August meeting it was also our  41st birthday .

We had not had our change over meeting that was due in April so this meeting we were catching up on several months as well as celebrating our birthday.

Our New president Carol Thornton  finally took the reins  and the collar from the previous president Caroline Frohmuller.

We held a minutes silence for 2  very loved members  Joyce Crawford and Trevor Fist who were both very valued members of our club  and are no longer with us.

Joyce's husband Derek Crawford  was present for the first time in many months and Trevor's sister Glenis was also present.

It was lovely to see them both and for them to share in our minutes silence for Joyce and Trevor .

We presented John Vaughan with his OBE , earned a few months earlier and  Marja  Ioannou accepted the OBE for  Tim Ioannou who was unable to be there,  he also earned his OBE several months ago .

We presented Barry Turton and Mick Ryan with  "THANK YOU" certificates .

They have both served our club well and for many years,                     THANK YOU from all of us  .

We were unable to present several other THANK YOU's as the members were not present .

There were some lovely  visitors  today and they all  enjoyed the meeting , even though it was very different to normal, they  have taken home membership forms and  seem keen to join our club.

When it came to our beautiful birthday cake , purchased by Carolin Frohmuller  (Thank you Carolin) it was decided to ask Derek Crawford (who was also celebrating his birthday) to join with our President Carol in cutting the cake .

No photos of the new committee etc due to MASKS being worn....
