OCTOBER MEETING 10/10/19

  Today we had a speaker from National Hearing Care  His name was Kevin  and he is the chief Audiologist from Hearing Australia  he told us about the very  latest hearing devices. 
There is some wonderful improvements in these devices nowadays. Please make a visit to  National Hearing Australia to check them out , they are in Imperial Centre Gosford  and also at Erina and Woy Woy.     Your hearing test is covered by medicare ....

It was then time to induct an old member back into our Probus club.  
David Walker who had been a member previously  but dropped his membership and then moved away from The Central Coast.  rejoined 
          as he has now returned to God's own Countryside ,
                             the beautiful Central Coast .

 Next Meeting 14th Nov.  is our Good Citizenship Awards so please make sure your present to say a big PROBUS congratulations to the students who have been chosen to receive our award this year . 
This is a  really special morning with proud families present as well as several representatives from the Schools .
 It is always very uplifting to hear what these specially chosen students (who  have been selected by their school  to receive our award) , have been rewarded for . Some of them are simply AMAZING.

September meeting

At our September meeting  we had an emotional presentation  by Graham  Harrison ,who spoke about Organ Donation. this was an emotional talk because Kevin and his wife had donated their sons organs many years prior but the talk brought it all back and although this talk was a real eye opener for many of us it was pretty emotional for Graham and his wife 

( who was present at our meeting )
Mick Ryan was presented with his 20 year membership certificate by President Carolin. Mick has been a valued member for more than 20 years actually. 
We had a lovely lunch outing to Pelicans restaurant at Woy Woy this month organised by Alan Gibbs,     Thanks Alan ....

On Thursday  8th August our Probus Club celebrated our 40th Birthday. 
Our club is the OLDEST club on the Central Coast and so 40 years is a one off for the Probus clubs in our area.

A lovely 40th Birthday was enjoyed by those who were there.   


 It was lovely to see everyone and   we were glad so many made it to our birthday. 
Thank you to all who made the event so special and to the committee for all their hard work in organising this birthday. 
Job well done  everyone ! 
 A special thanks goes  to President Carolin and Alan Gibbs for all the organising  and choosing of the venue etc. 

A special Get Well message  to our member Dolly Ingram  who took ill during the lunch,  we hope you are OK now.

A big thank you to our Welfare officer Jan Blanche who went above and beyond the call of duty  to help Dolly and ended up in emergency herself. . 

A special "get well soon" to any of our members who were unable to be with us because they weren't well on the day.

 Our July Meeting saw Carolin Frohmuller back in her Presidents role and also saw  a new member  Shirley Goodbar inducted into our club,

WELCOME to our Probus Club Shirley....

Our meeting  11th July among other things was a welcome back to our President Caroline and her Prince Charming Don. 
They are just back from a long 6 weeks trip that took them to many places in the world. 
They had a great time but I bet they were glad to be back in their own beds on the 8th July . 
We are glad they had a great time and welcome them back to the "Land of Milk N Honey" .
 Carolin thanked several people for filling in for her during her time away . 
Vice Pres. Carol Thornton who chaired the 2 committee meetings in her absense. 
 A past president John Vaughan for chairing the June General meeting in her absence  
Corolin also thanked  Judi Edgington for taking the minutes at the meetings and keeping her up to date with emails while she was away.. 

Back to work now Carolin and  back to helping organise the upcoming 40th Birthday celebration lunch. 

Judi's clever daughter Michelle ( a desk top Publisher) has designed some placemats for the lunch and Caroline is now busy getting them printed and laminated... So those in attendance can take their placemat home as a memento of our 40th Birthday .

Shirley Goodbar who was a great guest speaker at our June meeting and enjoyed our Probus club enough to join.... Welcome to our ranks Shirley.

Our Guest speaker today was Prema D' Cruz who told us how to write and or tell a good story. 
She then went on to tell us not one, but three lovely stories.  
One was an update on her lovely rescue dog "Laddie"  another was about how her dad  told her the Ugly Duckling story and helped her overcome being Bullied,
 the third one was an amusing story about a cruise . 
Thanks Prema,  all stories were great and well received by our members .

An update on Laddie,......."My Christmas Miracle" 



Our welfare officer Jan Blanche told us who was sick and who needed to be kept in our thoughts.
 Our sympathy goes to Elaine Fry who has just lost her baby brother,  we are thinking of you Elaine ......

Our next meeting will be on  8th August and will be our 40th Birthday and will be held at the West Gosford RSL club.
The parking is usually easy and it is an all flat venue for those with walking aides.  We  have tried hard to think of everyone....
Hope you have booked and paid  for your birthday lunch with Alan  if so we will see you there.

If  you are not going to be there then our next REGULAR  Probus meeting will be back at the Community Centre on
Thursday 12th September at 10am.

 Hey .....I just realised it will be Springtime by then so no excuse not to be there. 

 We have a meeting 10th  October of course  and then it is our BIG ONE, "The good Citizenship Awards."
  So  Please mark the 14th November on your Calender as a morning NOT to be missed.
We are the ONLY Probus club to be having this award morning and it is always "SPECIAL"

APRIL Change over of Committee meeting

          Today a few changes were made to our committee....  We then enjoyed a beautiful Morning Tea/ light lunch together. 

       Many thanks to Ros and her team for such a lovely spread...

We thanked Past President DON Frohmuller  for his service to our Club,  he was presented with some parting gifts from us .

We then welcomed Carolin Frohmuller  as our New President. 

We also welcomed Carol Thornton as our V President. 

Our New President then presented Don with his certificate and also presented Joan with her O.B.E.  
The rest of the committee remains the same as in past year .
