Captain Cook Morning Tea Cruise 25th September 2014

After several days of beautiful sunshine  on the Coast we woke to over cast and threatening weather on Sept. 25th .
A group of us (not put off  by the  threatening weather) took the train to Sydney and then  set sail on the beautiful Captain Cook cruise boat.. we hoped we didn't end up lost at sea somewhere out there  in the middle of a storm but all was well, Captain Cook didn't let us down, nor did the weather man and the storm and rain held off until we got back on dry land thankfully.
The boat (more like a small ship)  was beautiful, the morning tea enjoyable and the views of the harbour and surrounds were as spectacular as they usually are only this time under grey skies and the threat of rain.
Sydney Harbour is still beautiful though and we all enjoyed the trip regardless of the grey and cloudy skies above us..
Even saw some dolphins playing in the bow waves of a boat in the Harbour  at one stage which surely must be a sign that the Harbour is becoming cleaner and healthier.
We cruised around the foreshores  and saw some of the fine real estate around the harbour side, we   saw susan Ranouf's old shack and the house that Oprah Winfrey was shacked up in while in Sydney also saw some of the hidden coves and bays and beaches that are hard to find unless on a cruise like this.
Called in at Darling Harbour and on the way back we even saw a bride having wedding photo's taken .
Once back on land ( though it wasn't that dry by then) most of our  group lunched together  at a restaurant at the Quay.
Some took off as they had left some windows open back home and wanted to get back before the rain hit the Central Coast.
Nice day out  regardless of the weather.!!!! For those who were unable to make it for some reason, please know that we missed you and hope to see you at our next meeting , Thursday October 9th.
Thanks Mick for organising another nice trip, enjoyed by all who participated....
Some photos of the trip  below.....

NO .....   THIS WASN'T OUR BOAT , ours was a bit smaller ....

Some of the happy Captain Cook CREW on Board THE BOAT.

Did someone say morning Tea was ready ? ? ? ? ? ?

Yep, There it is.... all in a neat little box, all you need now is a cuppa and you are set to sail.
A cake a lamington a Tim Tam and some cookies, and  a cuppa, what more could you want ?

A daggy old cruise ship held us up for awhile while it docked.

It is still a beautiful building  , even under  gray sky's

FORT DENISON

Guess who lives here .????

Darling harbour ship museum. Notice that SKY.

Captain Cook had already arrived on the ENDEAVOUR and was waiting for us at the quay.

This place bought back some memories of our youth....
Some of us might not be,
BUT he is still smiling after all these years, and he still has all of his teeth too.

The watch house at you know who's house ?

The weather came rolling in, but not until we were almost back on dry land.

Wedding Photos , a pretty bride getting photo's taken,
just  hope she didn't get too close to the edge of that wharf.
Would have made that a real "Splash Up" wedding eh ?

July OUTING......... CHRISTMAS IN JULY LUNCH

On The 24th of July Our PROBUS club members had a lovely CHRISTMAS in JULY LUNCH at the very scenic  Shelley Beach Golf Club.
A lovely meal and some really good entertainment was on offer.      Thanks  Mick for another lovely outing. It was lovely to see so many old faces enjoying themselves and the meal and the entertainment.
It was especially lovely to see Marion back with us after her loss, we all wish you well Marion.... We all miss John......
More members attended the lunch  than were expected and
I did notice Mick  pulling his hair out  when several people arrived that had not confirmed that they were coming.
This created a lack of chairs and place settings for awhile, but the club soon sorted the problem out , found some extra chairs / spaces and made the meal go round a bit further....
BY THE WAY, Mick says the job of  outings officer  is open to anyone who wants it ....!  After years of doing the job his hair is almost all  gone.........
It really was great to see so many of our members in attendance though.
Hope you all managed to get a seat and enjoyed the lunch and the entertainment.... Some photo's of the day are below....

I heard of a great excercise routine that I want to pass on to you,   it  is posted below.......
It is working well for me.............

EXERCISE FOR PEOPLE OVER 50

Begin by standing on a comfortable surface, where you have plenty of room at each side.

With a 2 kg potato bag in each hand, extend your arms straight out from your sides and hold them there as long as you can, and then relax.

Each day you'll find that you can hold this position for just a bit longer. Try to reach a full minute.

After a couple of weeks at this level, move up to 5 kg potato bags.

Then try 10 kg potato bags and eventually try to get to the point that you can lift a 20 kg potato bag in each hand

and hold your arms straight out for more than a full minute. (I'm currently at this level).

After you feel confident at that level, put a potato in each bag.

..........................................................................................................................................................

Also wondered if you know about this,
Getting old is not all bad it seems  there are some lerks and perks....

Perks of reaching 50 or being over 60 and heading towards 70 80 or 90 or beyond!

01. Kidnappers are not very interested in you.

02. In a hostage situation you are likely to be released first.

03. No one expects you to run--anywhere.

04. People call at 9 PM and ask. "Did I wake you?"

05. People no longer view you as a hypochondriac.

06.There is nothing left to learn the hard way.

07.Things you buy now won't wear out.

08.You can eat supper at 5 PM.

09.You can live without sex but not your glasses.

10.You get into heated arguments about pension plans.

11.You no longer think of speed limits as a challenge.

12.You quit trying to hold your stomach in, no matter who walks into the room.

13.You sing along with elevator music.

14.Your eyes won't get much worse.

15. Your investment in health insurance is finally beginning to pay off.

16.Your joints are more accurate meteorologists than the Weather Bureau.

17.Your secrets are safe with your friends because they can't remember them either.

18.Your supply of brain cells is finally down to manageable size.

19.You can't remember who gave  you this list.

20. And you notice these are all in Big Print for your convenience.
