PROBUS club of Gosford West GOOD CITIZENSHIP AWARDS 10/11/16

On Thursday morning 10th Nov. 2016 our annual awards were held.
We had a good roll up of members plus  the six student from the three schools we give these awards to and their families, friends etc and the teachers who represented each of the schools.
There were some very proud family members who watched the various students receive their awards along with some equally proud  teaching staff..
This was the 33rd year of our awards and as far as we know we are probably the only PROBUS club in the world who go to the trouble of rewarding students with these very special awards.
We know that we are the only club in Australia doing this.  Thankfully our Good Citizenship awards were started by a group of Probians 33 yrs ago, who decided it would be good to reward students for good citizenship because many of these student went un- noticed.
These awards do not take into account scholarly or sporting achievements, we simply want to reward "GOOD CITIZENSHIP"
We have been advised by previous recipients of  our award that prospective employers were very impressed  on seeing this award in a job seekers CV.
We so often hear about the down side of our young people but these students chosen by their various schools to receive our award really show another side of the coin..
It is very uplifting to hear of their good deeds at school and in the community and it lets us know that the future of the  world is in pretty good hands after all.
Those who met and interviewed each student and parents  and then presented them to the president of our club did a great job .
Our  presenters were John Edgington, John Starr, Judi Edgington, John Vaughan, Ros  and Barry Turton  and at the last minute Lyn Hicks helped Ros out because Ros wasn't well.
A HUGE Thank you to you all and to all those who work hard behind the scenes making sure these awards days are a success. Thank you to Ros and her catering team for the lovely morning tea. that was enjoyed by all.
The students chosen by their various schools were  Aaron B and Emily W. from Glenvale school,
